If you’re sick of weird, impractical bag trends: don’t worry, fall is just around the corner, and everything gets a lot more solid and neutral in fall. If you’re down for a little more fun and impracticality before a deep freeze descends on us all (or just on me, a year-round resident of New York, unfortunately), then I’m here to point out something you may have already picked up on a little bit: mesh, net and macramé bags are having a moment among the internet’s stylish inhabitants, mostly on Instagram.
As noted at The Cut, a lot of influencers and designers are styling the most extreme of these accessory looks with only a trio of oranges inside, which is an aesthetic idea not particularly useful to anyone whose daily activities extend beyond providing the snacks at halftime of a youth soccer game.
As handbag designers often do, though, the look has been adjusted in a couple key ways to make it a little more user-friendly. If you love the look and want to spend a little bit of money on the trend, we’d recommend choosing a version that has a leather lining or leather insert. On the other end of the price spectrum, we found the look’s grocery bag inspo at three for $13, which is virtually indistinguishable from a number of the more expensive options. In the middle, well, take a look below.
